“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5 NIV
There are some moments in life where I often wonder, God how is this all going to work out? I have to be honest and say I was having one of those moments this week. After I prayed, and briefly connected with a confidante, I noticed things started to fall in place.
Upon reflection, I actually chuckled a bit aloud. There was God, doing what He does best: being faithful, all-knowing, and lining everything up for our good. And here I was, doing exactly what humans often do -- trying to figure it all out, and though I hate to admit it, I was worrying too!
When we trust in the Lord with all of our hearts, there is a certain serenity, peace, and calm we’re able to experience because we know He’s got this. We actually don’t have to try and figure it all out. All we have to do is take it one day at a time, and be on the lookout for our daily bread knowing that He will give us everything we need to get through that day. (Matt 6:11, 25-34)
The Psalmist writes “Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” (Psalm 139:16) These verses simply highlight the fact that before we were even born, God knew what each and every day of our lives would look like even before us. Another Psalmist writes “Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.” (Psalm 147:5)
Because God is all-knowing and all-powerful, we can trust that whatever He has called us to do, He’ll equip us to get through it. So whatever You’re facing, contemplating, wondering, or holding onto I encourage you to release it to God in prayer, trust that He will handle the situation, let Him lead you, and watch Him work. Let His peace wash over you while you wait because He’s got this!
Reflection
What am I worrying about right now? How can I trust God with that situation? What am I holding on to or trying to figure out that I need to release to Him?
Prayer
Lord, thank you for always making a way. Forgive me for not trusting You with all of my heart. Help me to give all my cares to you. Keep me in your perfect peace. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
