“He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.’” Mark 16:15 ESV
Around the world April 1st is commonly referred to as April Fool’s Day. I was curious how this came to be so I looked up the origin. According to the History Channel, in 1854 when France switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar, the news spread slowly. People who still celebrated the new year in April under the Julian calendar were called “April Fools” and subjected to jokes and pranks.
Thank God the news of the Gospel and Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection did not spread late. Imagine your life without His wondrous working power, the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the knowledge of His everlasting love, the peace of His provision, the loving pruning process to be made in Christ’s image.
Each of these benefits we gain access to simply because we believe Jesus died and rose for our sin. We often share with others good sales, great cinematography, supplemental income opportunities, amazing trips, delicious food yet we often don’t share the work of God in our lives with the same zeal. This Holy Week consider ways that you can spread the Gospel and reflect it in your life to those around you. It would be foolish of us not to.
Reflection
In what ways can I spread the Gospel? How can I reflect the work of the Cross in my daily life to others? Is there anything preventing me from being a living witness?
Prayer
Lord, thank you for salvation and the cross. Forgive me for not spreading the good news. Use me in this earth to reflect your kingdom and love. Show me how to spread the Gospel. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
